Tabor Summer Scholars Series

Tabor is introducing a new summer series where students who want to expand their skills or explore a new topic for the first time can do so during the summer months! Scholars will live and study at our school by the sea, and be guided by skilled instructors, and expand their thinking around a variety of topics. We hope you can join us for an engaging and productive summer, and we look forward to expanding the series in future summers.

PLEASE NOTE: a minimum number of students is needed for each program/course to run. If the minimum is not met by the enrollment deadline of June 15, the program(s) will be canceled and the deposits will be refunded in full.

Artificial Intelligence

For students entering 10th - 12th grade

Course Description:
The Intro to AI program is designed for students of all backgrounds and career aspirations. It is a one-week journey into the rapidly advancing world of machine learning and AI. From foundational machine learning algorithms, computer vision to reinforcement learning, students will learn the fundamental theories and mathematics behind cutting edge algorithms and applications, as well as practical lessons and best practices for building machine learning and AI solutions. Each module is designed to be accessible, visually engaging and relatable for all students while fully preparing them to tackle hands-on projects using state-of-the-art algorithms running on industrial cloud-computing and machine learning platforms. In addition to learning the technical aspects of machine learning and AI, students will develop an appreciation for the impact this technology will have on education, careers and the fabric of society, enabling them to become informed and active participants in a future where machine learning and AI is ubiquitous.

SAT Prep Bootcamp

For students entering 10th - 12th grade

Session Dates:
Sunday, June 23 to Sunday, July 7, 2019

Cost:
Residential - $4,000

Course Description:
The SAT will help students master all aspects of the SAT exam, including Reading, Grammar, Math, Essay, and Vocabulary.
 
Our teachers have deep expertise in the new SAT and will comprehensively cover all the theory, fundamentals, rules, strategies, and techniques required to equip students for the exam. This will be complemented with numerous drills for students to put their learning into practice, as well as mock exams to assess progress.
 
The Bootcamp will consist of:
  • 2-Week Intensive SAT Summer Bootcamp will help students master all aspects of the SAT exam, including Reading, Grammar, Math, Essay, and Vocabulary
  • Learn all the theory, fundamentals, rules, strategies, and techniques needed to score highly on the exam
  • Be taught by deeply experienced teachers who have guided numerous students to scores of 1500+ / 1550+
  • Over 90% of students have shown score increases of 80-100+ points after the completion of the bootcamp
 
Enrollment Information:
  • Students should take an SAT mock exam prior to the start of the course (if they have not already done so)
  • For students scoring below 1300 on the mock exam or below 650 on the Math section, we would recommend some additional 1-on-1 classes prior to the start of the course

American Mathematics Competition

For students entering 10th - 12th grade

Course Description:
Our math program is intended for students desiring to expand their mathematics knowledge beyond regular classroom settings. While our summer program has a flavor for AMC preparations, it is designed to go beyond math contests and help students develop systematic methods and skills that are useful for both further studies and work in the future. In particular, we aim to prepare students in the following three areas.
  • Problem-solving: quantify intuitions and observations and apply them in real-life problems across all fields
  • Logical thinking and reasoning: understand and make connections between different concepts to develop logical reasoning to be more engaged in the students’ own learning processes.
  • Critical thinking: promoting creative, critical and independent thinking skills through project-based learning and integrated studies.
