Living with Purpose

Tabor Academy will welcome motivational Speaker, Bobby Petrocelli to campus for our Saturday School Day on February 16.  The program will be livestreamed on our Facebook page starting at 8:30 AM. The day is planned to build on the themes of values, identity and purpose several of our campus speakers have shared with our students this year starting with the Graboys Leadership Symposium.

Petrocelli endured the loss of his wife when a drunk driver crashed into his home. Finding his voice and commitment to live after this freak accident helped him discover his purpose to help others live powerful lives through work as a professional speaker, author, educator, and coach. Through every encounter, Petrocelli seeks to help others to live with purpose, using their own values and identity as a guide. His zest for life and charismatic personality helps to spread his messages of self-love, choice, and the power of a strong foundation. His talks emphasize the reality that each of us matter, that we must be who we are and share our love and talent with the world in order to make a difference.

Petrocelli has worked with educational groups, community organizations, professional sports and collegiate teams, as well as corporations and medical groups. He has been featured on TV on MSNBC, Lifetime and the Family Channel and was awarded the prestigious Telly Award for his appearance on Overcoming Obstacles. He is the author of 18 motivational books such as You Matter, It Doesn't; 10 Seconds will Change your Life Forever; Triumph over Tragedy; and Unshakeable Character. Learn more at his website.

We look forward to welcoming Mr. Petrocelli, the cousin of Tabor’s Director of Counseling, Dan Petrocelli, for an uplifting morning. Small group activities designed to help students begin to uncover their purpose will follow his presentation. We hope this session will help propel students toward a better understanding of themselves and their power to positively impact the world around them.
The talk will be livestreamed on our Facebook page at 8:30AM on Saturday, February 16.

  • Winter Musical

Tabor Academy invites the public to their performance of their winter musical, Heathers: The Musical (HSE) on February 14-16 at 7:30 PM.
Heathers: The Musical, a satire dealing with the challenges of teen life, became an Off-Broadway hit in 2014. Because the subject matter was so relevant to high schools, the creators of the show, Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, worked closely with Pearce High School in Richardson, TX, from 2015 through 2016 to develop a “toned-down,” high school edition (HSE) of the show. Tabor’s director, Mark Howland said, “While Heathers: The Musical (HSE) delves into such hot-button topics as body shaming, sexual harassment, and suicide, it does so with humor and sensitivity. The creators have claimed in fact that they feel the show is about female empowerment. Rather than avoid these taboo topics, Heathers: The Musical (HSE) tackles them head on but through the lens of satire, showing us that high schoolers need to be kinder to each other, and adults who work with them need to be more clued in. Our goal is that the show be a catalyst for the school community to further awareness and empathy.”
The show runs February 14, 15, 16 at 7:30 PM in Tabor’s Fireman Center for the Performing Arts in Hoyt Hall at 245 Front Street, Marion. It is free and open to the public, no tickets or reservations required.
