About Us

Faculty Employment

Tabor Academy seeks to attract, develop and retain exceptional faculty members who will embrace and advance our school’s mission:  To inspire a life-long love of learning, to instill a passion for the highest standards of achievement, to encourage personal responsibility, and to foster care for others and committed citizenship.
Ideal faculty candidates will have excellent communication skills; have enthusiasm, creativity and passion for the subject they teach; model the high standards of professionalism they expect their students to develop; and care for, challenge, and support the students with whom they work. A willingness to enthusiastically engage in all aspects of boarding school life (teaching, residential work, extracurricular activities, advising) and a desire to work in a multicultural community are essential characteristics of qualified candidates.
While teacher certification is not required, all candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in the subject field or a related field.
Because Tabor has both day and boarding students, faculty members either live on or near campus and help supervise the dorms.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, resume, brief statement of educational philosophy, and the Employment Application for Faculty to employment@taboracademy.org.  Tabor's faculty hiring cycle normally begins in late December and concludes by early May.

  • Learn More About Our Area

The Southcoast of Massachusetts is a fast growing area due to its proximity to Boston, Providence, Newport, Cape Cod and the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Our local city, New Bedford, has a thriving arts community, a working waterfront, theatre, ethnic dining, and interesting museums to enjoy year round. If you are more of an outdoor enthusiast, there are many things to do including hiking, biking, camping, bird watching, beachcombing, and of course all the water sports you could ask for. At Tabor, we provide kayaks and small sailboats for faculty and staff use to explore our beautiful Sippican Harbor.

The area is home to many diverse cultures, enriching us with their food, cultural celebrations, art and music. The Southcoast is not just a beautiful place to be, but a welcoming community of people who have chosen to live a bit away from the hustle and bustle of city life to enjoy close-knit communities.

Marion itself enjoys a fabulous public school and library as well as an active Arts Center and Historical Society. Our town and our business and non-profit organizations provide many opportunities to gather and celebrate life together from parades to block parties to community discussions and town meetings!

We hope you will come visit Marion and Tabor to see just what makes us so special!
