Reunited and it feels so good! For the first time since 2019, Tabor Academy invited alumni back to the shores of Sippican Harbor for the opportunity to reminisce, reunite, and reconnect with friends old and new. This year, the School by the Sea hosted 16 classes on campus. As predicted, the weekend was filled with spirited celebration.

Leading up to Reunion Weekend 2022, the Fund for Tabor held a reunion challenge pitting the 16 returning classes against one another in a friendly fundraising competition. Tabor is proud to share that the donor goal was exceeded, allowing $25,000 to be unlocked for Tabor. The Class of 1995 was the winner of the challenge, having the greatest participation. In addition to fundraising, alumni engaged in weekly Flashback Friday fun on social media by guessing the years of reunion class photos, as seen below.

The weekend officially started on Friday, June 10, with a special reception and dinner for the school’s 50th reunion classes from 1970, ’71, and ’72. Meanwhile, food trucks flooded the waterfront as alumni enjoyed good food, better company, and amazing views. Later Friday evening, alumni enjoyed s’mores by the fire pit, live music, stargazing in the Edmonds Observatory, and a whiskey tasting hosted and led by Lex Browning ’10.

Saturday brought with it another fun-filled day of activities. In the morning, alumni boarded the SSV Tabor Boy and participated in a hands-on demonstration of the schooner. Concurrently, there was a morning row on Sippican Harbor, Seawolf squash with current coach Guillermo Moronta ’02, an informational session about the Campus Center, and waterfront activities.

After lunch there were two “Back to Class” options: “Pow! Bam! Zop! The Anatomy of a Comic Book” with retired faculty Mark Howland, and “There’s No I in Leader, Either: The Importance of Balancing Ego and Personal Aspirations While Serving in Leadership Roles,” with current teacher Nate Meleo ’95. On the field, the ‘90s engaged in some friendly wiffle ball competition against the 2000s.

Later in the evening, there was a parade of classes into Wickenden Chapel for the school’s first Reunion Convocation. At Convocation, Head of School Tony Jaccaci addressed all 16 classes, recapped the State of the School, and shared some exciting news about the naming of the new Campus Center. Saturday evening ended with dinner and dancing to live music under the tent, and Reunion Weekend came to a close with a farewell brunch the next morning.

Reunion wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous efforts from Facilities, Flik Dining, Security, and the Advancement team. Thanks to all those who made another successful Reunion Weekend at Tabor possible.

And most importantly, thank you to the many alumni who made the journey back to Marion for Reunion Weekend 2022. We'll see you back on campus in 5 years, if not before then.
