Alumnus and faculty member Ian Patrick ’84 is named as the Class of 2022’s Commencement speaker. Patrick dedicates his time to Tabor both in the classroom and on the field. He has taught every level of English, and currently teaches Advanced Placement Literature and Composition as well as senior electives, such as Leadership on the Sea, Prep-School Literature, and The Monomania of Edgar Allan Poe. Patrick has also been the head coach for girls' soccer team and both the boys' and girls' lacrosse teams.

“As a Tabor alum and member of the faculty for 26 years, I have always looked forward to listening to the Commencement Address at graduation,” Patrick shares. “To be honored with this task is extremely special, and I look forward to speaking with the Class of 2022 about the opportunities ahead after four rather tumultuous years on campus and globally.”

Mackenzie Chaput is announced as the Class of 2022’s Baccalaureate speaker. Chaput has been a member of the Math Department at Tabor since 2014, where she teaches Honors Precalculus and AP Calculus, and has been a varsity field hockey and a girls varsity basketball coach since 2013.

“I was shocked and honored to have been asked to be the Baccalaureate speaker, this class is full of amazing young adults ready to make their mark on the world and I am hoping to give them a little reminder about the power of kindness on their way out,” says Chaput.

Chaput also notes the significance of this year’s end of the year events. Because of Covid-19 restrictions in previous years, many ceremonies had limited attendance. This year Tabor is excited to invite everyone back under the tent, making these events even more special. Chaput emphasizes, “I am looking forward to having all the seniors and their families together in one space for the first time since arriving on campus four years ago.”
