On Sunday, November 17, Tabor Academy proudly hosted its first-ever TEDx Youth event in Lyndon South, drawing students, faculty, and community members together for an afternoon of inspiration and intellectual exploration. Themed "Balance," the event featured four exceptional faculty speakers sharing their unique interpretations of the concept.
TEDx, a program inspired by the globally renowned TED conference, is designed to celebrate "ideas worth spreading" at a local level. Earning approval from the official TEDx organization, the Tabor event provided a platform for the community to connect through thought-provoking talks and meaningful discussions.
The lineup of speakers included Tamar Cunha, Chair, Science Department; Dr. John Crosby, Science Teacher; Leslie Brannigan, History Teacher; and Chris Conley, Science Teacher, each of whom brought their own professional and personal insights to the stage. Whether exploring balance in education, life, or the broader world, their talks resonated deeply with the audience.
“This was a truly unique experience for our school,” Tyrone Black, Associate Head of School, says. “Hosting a TEDx event is an honor and a reflection of our commitment to fostering dialogue and curiosity within our community.”
The event followed the TEDx tradition of blending live presentations with TEDTalks videos, creating a rich experience of shared ideas and perspectives. Attendees were also treated to snacks and drinks, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere.
