From Practice to Payoff: An Unprecedented Season for Varsity Football
It was a season to be remembered. This fall's varsity football team was defined not only by their performance on the field, but by deep bonds, shared leadership, and program-wide commitment. Under Head Coach Jeff Moore, Tabor earned unprecedented recognition, including winning all three major Class B awards, placing 19 of 22 starters on Class B All-League teams, and securing the first back-to-back New England Championships in school history. With 15 players holding Division I scholarship offers, the program continues to rise as a force to be reckoned with.
For Coach Moore, success starts with mindset and character. “Success at our level has a lot to do with having a group of players who put the team first,” he explains. Selflessness, dedication, and genuine care for one another are the central pillars of his program and evident in the way the players train and support their teammates.
“They relentlessly practice hard, want to be coached, appreciate constructive criticism, and deeply care about their teammates,” Moore says. This collective humility and hunger for improvement shaped the team’s identity throughout the season and set the tone for their historic accomplishments.
Beyond game-day execution and daily drills, Moore emphasizes traditions and intentional bonding experiences that reinforce the program’s culture. One such custom is the Milk and Cookies gatherings, during which alumni and coaches share stories about their own Tabor football journeys, lessons on perseverance and teamwork, and memories of the lifelong friendships forged on the field.
These moments, paired with additional team-building activities embedded into the preseason, allow players to connect on a deeper level. The result is a program where athletes compete fiercely for one another and understand what it means to represent Tabor both on and off the field.
Coach Moore is clear about his vision for the program’s future, and it goes far beyond wins and accolades. “The goals of the program are to have a group of young men who love their teammates, this program, and Tabor,” he says. “When you do those three things, you will always give elite effort, put the team first, and pay it forward to the school well after graduation.”
That focus on character and community has helped build a culture where players push themselves to excel while strengthening the legacy of the team.
The Seawolves’ success this year was reflected in accolades across the league. Tabor athletes swept the three major Class B awards:
- Lineman of the Year: Carter Gooden '26
- Offensive Player of the Year: Peter Bourque '27
- Defensive Player of the Year: Brendan Farhat '26
Additionally, an extraordinary 19 of the team’s 22 starters were named to either the first or second All-Class B teams.
With 15 players currently holding Division I scholarship offers, the future for Tabor football is bright. But for Moore, the greatest measure of success is seeing athletes develop into leaders prepared to “pay it forward,” embodying the values upon which the program is built.
