The Co-Curricular Experience

Tabor has done our best to maintain our robust co-curricular program guided by CDC and state parameters while adding CDC recommended activities. Specifically, we have added recreational sessions – a rotation of 6 CDC endorsed outdoor activities that include badminton, disc golf, kickball, strength & agility, and volleyball. Approximately 100 students have quickly populated these new offerings.

When asked about this year's programming Athletic Director Conan Leary said, "We know that being active and having an outlet is essential for mental, emotional, and physical health and why we provide such a large, diverse co-curricular program. Overall it seems that students have enjoyed the variety of outdoor activities."

Re-working our strength and conditioning program for this school year has been a big responsibility for Assistant Athletic Director Brian Torres. "We have been fortunate to create an outdoor space for our students to strength train using free-weight equipment up on our track," said Torres. "Our students can reserve time to exercise if they have free time during the school day, and our Recreational Sessions and Fall Sports are utilizing the space as part of their afternoon schedule. This space outdoors provides our students with many of the same equipment they have become accustomed to inside the weight room while ensuring the ability to maintain safe distancing.”

Looking forward to Tabor's remote learning phase starting in December, the Athletic Department has been hard at work planning on ways to keep students engaged in co-curricular activities. Similar to last spring's remote trimester, co-curricular leaders will be in contact with remote participants. Teams and groups will work together so students are ready to jump into in-person activities upon arrival back to campus.

Although this year may look a little different we are dedicated to giving our Seawolves the best co-curricular experience possible.

  • School Photo Day

Tabor Academy has granted CoffeePond Photography permission to be on campus to take official student school photos on Monday, October 26. The photo session in the Fish Center’s field house will be a contact-less event. Photographers will be masked at all times and will maintain a minimum distance of 8 feet from students. Students will wear a mask until seated for the photo and will need to adhere to physical distancing while in the Fish Center.

Students will be assigned a designated time to have their photo taken based on their academic schedule. Students should check their emails for their appointed time slot and additional details regarding COVID protocol as the photo session date approaches.

Students, especially seniors, should be in more formal dress attire as these photos will be used for the yearbook. Boys, please wear a jacket and tie.
  • Back-to-School Night - Module B

On the evening of October 28th, Module B teachers (students current classes--blocks E, F, G and H) will host a “Back to School Night” opportunity via Zoom to give families a chance to meet the classroom teachers, put a face with the name, and learn a little about what is happening in each of their child’s classes.

Please save the date for the evening of 10/28 and look for more information soon.
You do not need to register for this offering.
  • Virtual Fall Family Weekend

The traditional Family Weekend will not be held on campus this Fall, and will instead be reimagined using virtual technologies for our families to learn about their students’ experience. The Parent Engagement team is developing opportunities for parents/guardians to connect with each other and with the school and will be announcing them soon. If you have ideas for virtual or remote events, please share them with us by emailing Liz Cheney lcheney@taboracademy.org.
