Q: Hello Miss. Parente, can you introduce yourself? A: My name is Miss Parente and I am the 10th-grade class dean. I teach LEAPS, which is a character development course for the ninth grade and new tenth graders. I also coach girls’ varsity soccer and girls’ junior varsity basketball. I live in Cornelia with my fiancé Mr. Swift and our amazing dog, Bear.
Q: What does the 10th-grade class dean do? A: Over the course of the year, I work with tenth graders on anything that involves academics, extra-curricular activities, social and emotional hurdles and various other things. Through class meetings, class events and other gatherings throughout the year, I work hard to unify the tenth-grade class and assist them in setting their sights on how to be the most successful seawolf they can be.
Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself? A: After graduating from Connecticut College, where I played soccer as a student-athlete, I came to Tabor. This coming fall will be my sixth year at the School by the Sea. When I started at Tabor, I was in the history department teaching United States History. I moved into the Residential Life Office and will be starting my third year in the office this coming fall. I absolutely love the beach and playing with my dog Bear. I am incredibly passionate about Tabor’s Healthy Relationship programming. We work closely with the One Love Foundation and diligently work to educate our students and community members on the signs and symptoms of both healthy and unhealthy relationships.
Q: Any fun facts you want to share? A: Before any soccer game I have ever played in (or coached in), I have eaten half of a starburst pack before the game and the other half during halftime. Just a superstition of mine and they are my absolute favorite candy.
Thanks for hanging out with us today, Ms. Parente!
