Fall Spotlight on Scholars

Each trimester, as a way to honor the effort of our hard-working students, faculty members shine a spotlight on the students who have experienced the most growth or who are most influential in their classrooms. These names are displayed on our website as a way to recognize their contributions to academic life at Tabor. Please enjoy the first crop of Spotlights for the 2020 school year! You can enjoy their profiles here.

There are many ways to shine in our classrooms from being a strong participant in class discussions to embracing new experiences and challenges. These spotlights focus not on grades but on classroom leadership. Exhibiting the traits of a committed student regularly in class through consistent preparation and effort, and a willingness to try new ways to attack problems sets a great example to others and builds strength throughout the class. It is important to recognize effort and progress in a student’s willingness to grow and even fail at times on their way to the most meaningful learning.

We appreciate these dedicated students and wish them all the best as the trimester comes to a close. Well done in attracting the Spotlight!

With the persistence of environmental change, people across the world are experimenting daily with different adaptive methods on the ground. With support from National Geographic and The Redford Center, filmmaker Alizé Carrère has been documenting innovative human adaptations in places such as Madagascar, Bangladesh, Vanuatu, Norway and the United States. From floating farms in Bangladesh to ice pyramids in the Himalayas, these stories reveal incredible ingenuity and resourcefulness in the face of environmental adversity. Alizé shares her experiences from the field looking at these unique examples of human adaptation, reminding us of the most important trait that has allowed for our continued survival on earth.
