After all the fun of Love & Information this weekend, don’t miss the second act in the Black Box! The cast and crew of Fall Drama II will be putting on Almost, Maine next week running November 7-9.
The play is about the people who live in the fictitious town of Almost, Maine (population 300) located in far northern Maine. Consisting of eight 2-character scenes, the play explores different relationships at different points of evolution: break-ups, first loves, enduring friendships, etc. Almost, Maine also explores the often unpredictable nature of love and friendship and how magical moments can occur in even the most deeply ingrained relationships. Each scene pivots on a “magical” moment that is unpredictable and perhaps unrealistic but makes perfect sense within the scene’s evolving relationship. Director John Heavey said, “I chose this play because the dialogue in each scene is so well written in terms of how the playwright beautifully captures the essence of each character working through a key moment in a relationship. Also, because each scene involves powerful, enduring emotions such as love, hate, trust, and betrayal, I felt both the actors and the audience would become engaged in the play.”
Stage manager Sydney Leaver’21, had this to say about the production, “Working with the cast of Almost, Maine has been so much fun so far. They are all full of energy and excitement about performing in front of everyone and showing what they have been working on so hard these past few weeks. The time and effort they have been putting in to make this show happen will for sure pay off come performance time!”
