Following two years in the Math Department, Christina Kennedy (“CK”) is looking forward to partnering with Tabor’s academic leadership as the school’s new Dean of Studies. Eileen Marceau, formerly the Dean of Studies, has been named Associate Head of School for Academic Affairs, charged with guiding the strategic direction of our evolving academic program to ensure Tabor students are exceptionally prepared for the future that lies ahead.
With Eileen focused on strategic priorities of the academic program, CK in her new role will focus on the day-to-day operations: scheduling, placements, course loads, grades, and credits; managing formal and informal communication with families; and supporting students in their academic pursuits. In conjunction with Eileen, CK will join the department chairs on the Academic Council to focus on curriculum development, grading policies and consistency, homework practices, leadership training, and cross-departmental collaboration. Reflecting on her excitement for her new role, CK shared, “I am especially interested in helping faculty members see their disciplines as vehicles through which to explore school-wide objectives, prioritize equity and inclusion, and empower students to assume more responsibility as partners in their learning and development.”
Prior to her time at Tabor, CK served in administrative roles at three distinctive independent secondary schools. She worked as a grade-level dean. She led an Honor Committee of students and faculty. And, she served as the Math Department Chair at St. Andrews School in Delaware, and Phoenix Charter Academy and Pingree School in Massachusetts.
We look forward to seeing what the dynamic partnership of Eileen and CK will bring to Tabor Academics!
