We are pleased to recognize strong academic achievement at Tabor and have just released the descriptions of our Spring Spotlight on Scholars. Please see the listings here and enjoy the stories of curiosity and effort the faculty have shared about their hard-working students across disciplines and grades.
At Commencement, we will announce the highest level of recognition of scholarship, the annual induction of seniors into the Cum Laude Society. This year, Tabor Academy will welcome twenty-eight new student members into its Cum Laude Society ranks.
Founded in 1906, the Cum Laude Society is dedicated to honoring scholastic achievement in secondary schools. Modeled after the Phi Beta Kappa of colleges, the society grants a limited number of memberships to schools of superior academic quality. Tabor Academy was granted membership in 1930, and since that time over 1,100 Tabor students have been honored with Cum Laude distinction.
For a student to earn membership in the Tabor Cum Laude chapter, he or she must rank in the top 20% of the graduating class and have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.8 or better by April of the senior year in a rigorous, challenging, and full course of study that includes advanced-level courses in both the junior and senior years. A candidate's school citizenship and moral character are considered as well.
It has been a wonderful year of learning and accomplishment for all our students and we are proud of their effort and achievement!
We will celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. during our Saturday School Day with an Emmy award-winning television producer, public speaker, and peace advocate, followed by small group discussions.
Please join John Quirk, Head of School and hosts Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pokoik '63 GP '23 for a cruising reception aboard the Marina Jack II 2 Marina Plaza Sarasota 2:00pm. - 4:00pm (boarding promptly at 1:45pm)
