Fun Year End Activities Ahead

With the school year quickly coming to a close, the Office of Student Activities, in conjunction with the Office of Student Life, has planned a multitude of fun events for the students to partake in to make it a memorable time. Halle Silva ’14, Director of Student Activities, has done a terrific job during her first year bringing a variety of cool experiences and diverse options for students to explore over the weekends.

A couple of highlights include bringing Abby Ellis ’16 back to campus twice for Paint Night. Ellis hosted a group of 35 to 40 students each time, walking them through the creation of a painting of Tabor’s campus that the participants could take home with them. The students loved this opportunity, asking for her to come back time and time again. Not only did the students love when Abby came to campus, but the faculty thoroughly enjoy welcoming back an alumnus so willing to share her passion with Tabor in this way.

This past weekend, Silva invited another Tabor alum to campus to share what he loves to do. Anthony Zonfrelli ’10 came to Tabor last Friday night to perform a comedy night. He brought his friend, Joe Palana, who opened the comedy act, bringing a lot of life to the room. The turnout was terrific, starting out with about 50 students in the Beebe and ending up with over 100 students as word got out. We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout or a better performance by both Joe and Anthony.

With just a few weekends left, the office is planning a few more memorable weekends for our students. Senior project presentations will find space on this spring’s weekend activities docket as Tabor seniors share their creativity with their peers. Seniors Liz Seero and Anna Douglas will turn their senior project evening event into a student activity when they debut their art opening on May 17th and incorporate a chance for students to explore finger painting in the Lillard Living Room. Seniors Sophie Browning and Quinton Doggett will also turn their senior project presentation into an event in the Beebe on May 18th, when Quinton will debut his original music and Sophie will show off her new DJ skills with her EDM style music.

Finally, the last weekend before graduation will see the return of some favorite traditions: The Paint Dance on Saturday, May 25th, followed by the ever-popular Spring Fest on Sunday, May 26th. Spring Fest will consist of several live music performances from Tabor’s own Jazz Band to guest performer Craig Demello, and a return of our favorite Tabor duo, our very own Gerry Dineen accompanied by Tabor alumna Julia Peterson ’18. Three food trucks, Pizza Barbone, Rocket Fine Street Food, and Ben & Jerry’s will provide the event with delicious food and a leisurely vibe. Students will be relaxing along the waterfront that day enjoying all the beauty and fun Tabor has to offer. With yard games, an organized senior-faculty softball game, and a volleyball tournament, the day is bound to be tons of fun!

All we can do now is cross our fingers for good weather and look forward to all the amazing events Tabor has in store for the students at the closing of the year! Enjoy Seawolves!
