It’s International Week!

A much-loved tradition, International Week is a time each year to celebrate and experience cultures represented by our international students through music, food, games, dance, trivia and more.

Daisy Ye ’19, one of the organizers of the week said, “International week is an annual festival at Tabor when students celebrate unique cultures from all around the world. Besides enjoying K-pop dances and beautiful music performances, students and faculty also participate in the annual badminton tournament and try out the delicious Islands dinner and French lunch. This week is one of the most special weekends as the unique backgrounds of each student is recognized.”

There is a lot of interest and talent in music and dance among Tabor’s international students, so it is fitting that we begin the week at Chapel with Kyle Tabata ’20 performing folk songs on the violin. Dinner on Monday will be a Spanish themed meal. On Tuesday at All School, Jacquelyn Li ’20, Yujin Hong ’20, Min Jung Kim’20, and Yaya Ma ’21 will perform a quartet dance for us called “Forever Young.” After, a fun Kahoot Quiz will test advisor groups knowledge of global trivia and world events. In the Fishbowl after All School, everyone’s favorite Thai Iced Tea will be served and students can paint their faces with their country’s flag. The dining hall will feature French fare that day. Wednesday, the Caribbean Dinner will be the main feature of the day with delicious dishes from the Islands. We round out the week with another talk by Mr. DaSilva in Chapel followed by Gary Chen ’20 on piano accompanying Steven Walxim ’19 singing “Half Moon Serenade.” Friday, more music at All School features the musical quartet of Gary Chen ’20, Kevin Zhang ’19, Kaxim Ng ’20, and Yoyo Tobunluepop ’20 playing “10,000 Times of Sadness.” The week closes out our traditional favorite, the faculty student Badminton Tournament in the Fish Center at 7:30 PM.

We hope through exposure to some new sights, sounds, tastes and events, that our students can connect and experience something new together, learning all the way.

Enjoy International Week, Seawolves!
