Next week, on April 4, we will welcome to campus ten students from Ellesmere College, a boarding high school located in England. During spring break, the cast of our fall drama production of “Lucky Me,” traveled to Ellesmere to experience life at their school and share their show. Now it is time for the Ellesmere students to have their trip to New England, enjoy life at Tabor, and share their show.
This drama exchange is rather unique to Tabor and has been going on since the 90s when Mr. Howland and Mr. Van Voris started the whole “across the pond” idea. It has been a popular offering ever since and we have enjoyed some wonderful shows every other year when they come to stay. Their shows are typically full of British humor and tradition. This year will be no different.
The cast from Ellesmere is planning a murder-mystery farce called “Murdered to Death,” where it is not clear who will be left standing! There is a butler, of course, an English Colonel, and bumbling local inspectors trying to figure out the mysterious death of the owner of a country manor house. It will be a night full of laughter, so come out and enjoy the fun on April 6 at 7:30 PM in the Black Box (reserve tickets at the switchboard).
When they aren’t practicing and performing, the students will be attending classes and taking a few day trips to area attractions. They will finish their stay on April 9 and head off to New York City to take in the sights and see the Broadway musical “Mean Girls.” No doubt some of our students would like to stow away with them on that trip! Our students made some good friends in Ellesmere and they are really looking forward to showing their new friends around Tabor.
Here’s to a great exchange and cementing some international friendships and memories to last.
