Yudai Yamakawa’s dedication, grit and team spirit have produced impressive match performances during the final weeks of his four-year Tabor squash career. Playing at #5, Yudai often plays in the last round, with the outcome of a close match depending on who will win his contest. After losing several five-game encounters earlier in the season, Yudai has shown this month that he can save his best efforts for the deciding fifth game, or for the tie-breaking points at the end of a game. He won crucial matches in the National High School Tournament last weekend, and again in a 5-2 victory against Exeter this weekend. Yudai plays each point to his utmost, and his spirit enriches the whole team.
Girls JV Basketball: Cate Viola
Cate was arguably the reason the JV team was able to defeat the Varsity Team from Putnam Science. She scored a season high 9 points (all in the 2nd half) to help the Seawolves go on a 17-2 run to open the 2nd half. She also chipped in 7 rebounds and 4 blocks against a taller and stronger Putnam team. Additionally, Cate had 5 steals. It was all-around effort that gave the team one of its biggest wins over the last two years.
