In memory of Tucker Francis '16

In memory of Tucker Francis '16

On Sunday evening, December 29, music blared from the hockey rink as the puck dropped for the 5th annual Tabor Hockey League (THL) alumni game. With over 20 alumni attending, world famous THL commissioner, Kenny Ackerman and fellow faculty coach/organizer, Kristen O’Brien, led a three-period hockey showdown between the black and red teams. For those unfamiliar with THL, the league was founded on the principles of fun and equal playing time for all player skill levels. Each team has three lines organized by skating ability, including little to no previous skating experience. Every minute and a half, the lines rotate, and Kenny plays a variety of music throughout each period. Between the slips and falls, a quick breakaway, spotty defense, and the occasional goal, there is competitive fun on every shift. Smiles and laughter were seen and heard throughout the evening. In honor of Tucker Francis ’16, the group finished by raising their sticks and shouting Tucker’s familiar phrase, “Be Nice!” A wonderful and lasting testament to Tucker and the spirit of THL. Thank you to all who attended and for Kenny and Kristen continuing the tradition each year.
