Tabor Academy Appoints Matt Voci as Interim Dean of Academics for 2025–2026

Tabor Academy has appointed Matt Voci as Interim Dean of Academics for the 2025–2026 academic year. Voci will assume his new responsibilities on July 1, 2025, succeeding Christina “CK” Kennedy, who will join St. Mark’s School in Southborough, MA, as Academic Dean and Assistant Head of School.

Following an extensive national search launched in March, Tabor attracted a strong pool of over 70 applicants and welcomed three distinguished finalists to campus. While the school had initially hoped to appoint a permanent successor despite the late start to the search, the Search Committee and Head of School Tony Jaccaci ultimately determined that an interim appointment would best position Tabor for a successful year of academic transition. Recognizing the need for steady, experienced leadership during the launch of a new daily schedule, the reintroduction of examination periods, and the advancement of key strategic initiatives, Tabor turned to a trusted and proven academic leader within its own community: Matt Voci.

A respected educator and longtime member of the Tabor community, Voci brings extensive experience to this interim role. He has served as Chair of the Mathematics Department since July 2020, where he has been a key voice on the Academic Council. As Tabor’s scheduler since July 2021, he has worked closely with academic leadership to manage and design the annual course schedule. Voci most recently served as an integral member of the three-person “Tabor Review 150” team, which developed the new daily schedule launching in 2025–2026.

Given his direct involvement in designing Tabor’s new daily schedule and annual academic calendar, Voci is uniquely positioned to help lead the successful implementation of this work during the upcoming year.

“Matt is a thoughtful and strategic academic leader,” notes Jaccaci. “His deep understanding of Tabor’s academic life, combined with his steady leadership and collaborative spirit, will help guide us through this important year. Matt is also a gifted teacher and mentor, and I am grateful for his willingness to step into this role at a critical time for the school.”

Reflecting on his appointment, Voci shares, "I am honored by the trust being placed in me to serve as Tabor Academy’s Interim Dean of Academics for the upcoming year. I am thrilled to continue working closely with our talented Academic Council as we advance strategic initiatives, including the implementation of a new daily schedule, the strengthening of our rigorous academic program, and the enhancement of support structures for our students."

The interim appointment will allow Tabor to reopen a national search for a permanent Dean of Academics early in the 2025–2026 school year, providing additional time to engage a broader pool of candidates and identify the best long-term fit for the school’s future.

Tabor extends its sincere thanks to the Dean of Academics Search Committee—Chief Employee Engagement Officer Nate Melo; ASSIST Center Facilitator Sue Kenney; English Teacher Jen Maier, Science Teacher Tim Wojcik, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Belonging RoseMarie Wallace; and Performing Arts Teacher Jesse Hawley—for their time, thoughtful leadership, and commitment to stewarding this important process.

In reflecting further, Voci expresses, “I am inspired every day by the extraordinary faculty we have at Tabor. Our teachers, coaches, directors, and advisors embrace the solemn responsibility of preparing our students for an interconnected and rapidly evolving world. I am also especially grateful to 'CK' Kennedy for her steady leadership and mentorship. Her compassionate, student-centered approach helped guide our academic program through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic era, and her legacy will continue to influence our work in the years ahead.”

With Voci’s leadership, Tabor looks ahead with confidence to a strong and successful year for the academic program.
