State of the School 2022

“I’m proud to say that the state of the school is strong,” Head of School Tony Jaccaci said in his opening remarks of the State of the School Address. An integral part of keeping community members apprised on what’s happening on campus both internally and externally, the State of the School outlines the institution’s plans to strategically progress into the future. Jaccaci reflected on both the challenges and successes from the 2021-2022 academic year in his virtual address on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

He went on to discuss the athletic, artistic, and academic accomplishments of students and other members of the Tabor community. Some of these include the girls’ basketball championship win and the fact that teams earned 20 other NEPSAC titles, the Day of Service, Tabor’s current enrollment statistics and its 37% acceptance rate, and recognizing alumni achievements. Jaccaci also introduced new leadership coming to campus, including Associate Heads of School Dr. Tyrone Black and Rachael Beare.

In addition to the significant successes Tabor has had this year, Jaccaci also shared some the challenges faced as a school and community. An AIM survey sent out to the school in the spring of 2021 helped the school assess its progress in the realm of multiculturalism and inclusivity. The results highlighted the need for better clarity of leadership and identity as Tabor continues to improve the sense of belonging on campus.

Looking to the future, Jaccaci focused next on Tabor’s 150th anniversary, also known as sesquicentennial. With a milestone anniversary around the corner, Tabor is diligently focused on finding common ground, and common direction for all. In the upcoming academic year, Tabor will be creating experiential weekend programing for students and unveiling the new campus center.
