Spring Arts Showcase Dazzles

For the first time this year, audience members were treated to live performances by more than 50 dancers, singers, and musicians!

The various talents of Tabor artists always draw the attention of the Seawolf community and this display was no exception. The Tabor Dance Team, as well as solo and duet dance performances, kept the audience tapping their feet, mesmerized by the athleticism and creativity of the dancers. Crowd favorite Eason Wei ’23 dazzled with his hip-hop moves as he performed his self-choreographed solo routine, “Rather Be,” in which he earned first-place in The Power of Dance competition. In addition, the voices of the Madrigal singers filled the auditorium when they performed two numbers: “Stand By Me” and “This Little Light of Mine.” 

Not to be outdone, our musicians tackled intricate pieces as the String Ensemble played various selections from the Broadway show “Hamilton” and “A Million Dreams” from “The Greatest Showman.” The Wind Ensemble charmed with music from the motion picture “How to Train Your Dragon.” And a trio of musicians, led by sophomore Olly Yang’s unparalleled piano playing, delighted the crowd with “Mamma Mia” by ABBA and “When We Were Young” by Adele.

Additionally, the Showcase went beyond the Hoyt Stage as Tabor artists displayed their work in galleries set up in Braitmayer Art Center, Hoyt Lobby, and the Stroud Academic Center. Works ranged from senior Madden Sterrett’s mixed media on wood (her senior independent study) to sophomore Emma Zhou’s poster for this event.
