Winter Family Weekend - A Presentation on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)

Presenters: Steffon Gales, Associate Director of College Counseling and Loraine Snead, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Many students of color desire a college campus where they are with other students who look like them. At predominantly white institutions (PWIs), like Tabor Academy, our students are interested in schools with a more diverse environment. Historically Black Colleges and Universities were designed to meet this need. This seminar session is one of many initiatives for the Tabor College Counseling office and serves as the starting point for discussions about the importance of considering HBCUs in a student’s college search. In partnership with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Mr. Gales will provide insight on what HBCUs are and how to include them in your college conversations. Following his presentation, there will be a Q&A session moderated by Mrs. Snead.
