Expand Your World View

Since our first International Student arrived from Japan in 1890, Tabor’s commitment to global engagement and international exchanges has evolved with the school’s growth and the historical events and changes beyond our shores. With the dynamic presence of students from around the world who comprise nearly a quarter of our student body, Tabor students pursue travel, exchange, community building, language learning and experiential study across continents and oceans. In addition to our travel programs, we participate in virtual programming that promises to enrich our global reach.

In a school environment that aims to promote inclusiveness and tolerance, our international student leaders bridge cultural, racial, and political distances to create a community of respect and friendship for all. These events and programs help promote a sense of global awareness and service:

  • International Orientation: Matches 60 returning Global Partners with new students
  • Host family dinners: Tabor families welcome our new International Students for dinner and fun
  • Trading Places: International students volunteer to introduce their cultures to freshman LEAPS class
  • International Chapel: A time to share culture and music, and what is like to study abroad
  • International Dinners: Student chefs offer recipes from home to our entire community (Read about the history of Tabor's International Dinners)
  • International Week: An extravaganza of food, music, performances, and games for community enjoyment and learning
  • Breaking Bread: A virtual exchange that promotes intercultural dialogue and collaboration among students in a global network of more than 12 schools and organizations. Topics include justice and human rights, gender diversity & equality, and climate action.
  • Global Ideas Institute Challenge: Pairs a cohort of Tabor students with mentors at the University of Toronto. Each month, students learn from expert speakers and develop strategies to address global challenges at the local level, ultimately presenting their project to a panel of peers and expert judges.

Academic Exchange & Travel Programs

It is our intention to have each of our students experience the world through another set of eyes, whether here at Tabor or through one of our many options to study or serve abroad. Our programming described below reflects our full offerings from prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to continue and/or re-introduce these programs, health conditions permitting.
