Lacrosse - Boys Varsity
Tabor Academy has had a boys’ lacrosse program since 1949. Our schedule is challenging and ensures the players will face competitive teams each week of the season. Many of our former players have and currently play at the collegiate level at Division I, II, III, and MCLA schools.
Our coaches emphasize individual skill development, cohesive team play, a competitive spirit, and good sportsmanship. Players from both the JV and varsity teams work on their skills throughout the year, and all are invited to attend spring training, which takes place in early March in Orlando, Florida.
The JV team is generally made up of freshman and sophomores with significant playing experience, although each year there are a few players that are new to the sport. The varsity team is predominantly a junior and senior team, although it is open to players of all grades. It plays one of the toughest schedules of all New England Prep Schools, which provides a tremendous opportunity for those who aspire to play college lacrosse to improve their game and gain recognition. JV and Varsity coaches work together to foster player development and consistency among the teams.

Head CoachConnor grew up in Bourne, MA and attended Tabor Academy from 2009-2012. While at Tabor, he was a three year lacrosse starter in goal and voted captain his senior season. He was an Under Amour Underclassman All-American for Team New England, one of 12 goalies in the nation to try out for the United States U-19 National Team, and a high school lacrosse All-American in 2012. During his time Tabor, Connor also started for both the soccer and hockey teams, captaining the ice hockey team his senior season. After Tabor, he went on to play division 1 lacrosse at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he earned All-Rookie honors his freshman year, and started three years for the Retrievers. Connor always wanted to return to his alma mater Tabor Academy, which lead him to work with the Lacrosse programs at Tabor starting in Spring 2022, then moving on to take up the Head Coach position for the Boys Lacrosse Program at the end of the Spring 2022 season. Every summer since he was 14, Connor has worked at his family's restaurant, The Chart Room, where he is currently a chef. He loves to golf and cook in his free time.

CoachIan Patrick, a 1984 graduate of Tabor, began teaching at Tabor in 1994. He has taught every level of English, and he currently teaches 12th grade English. He has been the mainstay behind Tabor’s Shakespeare Festival and Tabor’s Poetry Out Loud competition. He is a grammar aficionado, emphasizes the proper use of words, reads voraciously, and loves discussing literature with his students. Ian has been recognized by his students on several occasions, including receiving Tabor's 1998 yearbook dedication and the 2005 Houlihan Faculty Prize. In 2022, he was selected to give the Commencement Address.
A graduate of Hartwick College, Ian wrote his senior thesis on William Carlos Williams' "Paterson" and received his B.A. in English in 1988. Ian also holds an M.S. in Organizational Leadership from Norwich University. Prior to arriving at Tabor, Ian spent four years coaching and lecturing at Hartwick College (NY), and four more years teaching and coaching at Blue Ridge School (VA), Norfolk Academy (VA), and Nansemond Suffolk Academy (VA).
On the athletic fields, as of fall 2023, “Coach P.” will have served his 48th season as a HEAD varsity coach at Tabor and 51st overall. He is currently the head coach for the boys varsity soccer team and assistant coach for the boys lacrosse team. In the past, he has been the head coach for the girls soccer team and both the boys and girls lacrosse teams. During that time as a head coach, he has won over 400 games at Tabor, coached thirteen All-Americans, one Academic All-American, numerous All-New England and All-League student-athletes, won two New England Championships, led two teams to undefeated seasons, and has been recognized for his coaching on numerous occasions. He was named US Lacrosse's Eastern New England Coach of the Year in 1996 and 2005. In 2009, he was the Tidewater Conference's (VA) Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year. Additionally, he was named US Lacrosse's 2007 and 2010 Eastern New England Man of the Year. Many of his student-athletes have been named to Tabor’s Athletic Hall of Fame, including the entire 2004 Girls Soccer Team. Additionally, hundreds of the student-athletes he has coached have played sports at the collegiate level. Coach P. emphasizes the importance of developing one's character above all else, because, as he often quotes from his favorite short story, a "man's character is his fate." This mantra has paid off as Tabor's 2021 and 2022 Boys Soccer Teams won the ISL's prestigious Marc Blood Trophy, and Coach P. was recognized by his coaching peers in New England Soccer Journal's ISL poll as the league's "most admired" coach. In 2007, Tabor's Girls' Soccer award was renamed the Ian Patrick Girl's Soccer Award in honor of his work with the girls soccer program.
As a student at Tabor, Ian played soccer and lacrosse, wrestled, and was a member of Tabor's highly competitive riflery team. At Hartwick, Coach P. was a four year starter on the Men's Lacrosse team, was the team captain during his junior and senior years, and was the team MVP as a senior. He was also a member of Hartwick's nationally ranked D-I Men's Soccer program. Coach P. has his National Diploma from United Soccer Coaches.Â

Within the Tabor Community, Ian serves as a faculty advisor to eight students, is a dorm-parent in West House, and resides in Hunt House with his wife (Lauren) and their son (Finnian). Ian also has four older children who attended Tabor. Along with spending time with his family, Ian enjoys many outdoor sports. In the summer months, he can be found on the water paddle-boarding or cruising the waters of Buzzards Bay and the surrounding islands on his Cape Dory 31. Coach P. is still playing club lacrosse in the summer and club soccer in the fall and spring. During the winter months, he finds tranquility mountain biking in the woods. -
