Choral Music
Sing your Heart Out!
Tabor Academy’s choristers swell the ranks of six different choral ensembles from the entry-level training chorus to the select Madrigal Singers. Tabor's choral musicians audition for and perform at the Southeastern District, Massachusetts All-State and All-Eastern Music Festivals. They study voice and perform in solo recitals, choral concerts, school meetings and chapel. They sing any time the community gathers for reflection or celebration, and a thriving Open Mic Night, open to all students, allows anyone who likes to sing to show their talents across many different genres. Tabor Academy’s Choral Music Program is diverse, challenging, and growing.
Performance Venues
Whether for Senior Convocation, Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, Veterans or Memorial Day, the Chapel Program is served by Tabor Academy’s choral groups and soloists. All-School Meeting on Tuesdays offers another weekly opportunity for vocal ensembles and solo performers to present themselves to the community. Finally, the more casual open mic nights are popular with our musicians.
Lessons and Carols, a traditional holiday worship service, features all our choral ensembles throughout the service and is our largest choral concert each year. Additionally, the Mixed Chorus presents with the Wind Ensemble and the String Ensemble at the evening Spring Concert for the entire school community, a highlight of the season.
The Madrigal Singers perform annually in Wickenden Chapel.
