A Perfect Location for our School by the Sea
The Southcoast of Massachusetts is a fast growing area due to its proximity to Boston, Providence, Newport, Cape Cod and the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Our local city, New Bedford, has a thriving arts community, a working waterfront, theatre, ethnic dining, and interesting museums to enjoy year round. If you are more of an outdoor enthusiast, there are many things to do including hiking, biking, camping, bird watching, beachcombing, and of course all the water sports you could ask for. At Tabor, we provide kayaks and small sailboats for faculty, staff, and students to use to explore our beautiful Sippican Harbor.
Marion Village features a number of quaint dining and retail establishments including Serendipity by the Sea and Sea Dips Ice Cream, The Marion General Store, Kate’s Simple Eats food and merchandise, and Uncle Jon’s Coffee. All are within walking distance of Tabor Academy. Likewise, Tabor students are a fixture in the Town of Marion's family traditions such as the Holiday Stroll, where Sammy the Seawolf and friends hand out cookies to local families.
The area is home to many diverse cultures, enriching us with their food, cultural celebrations, art and music. The Southcoast is not just a beautiful place to be, but a welcoming community of people who have chosen to live a bit away from the hustle and bustle of city life to enjoy close-knit communities.
We hope you will come visit Marion and Tabor to see just what makes us so special!
