Learning and Community: TOGETHER WHILE APART

The world around us may change in myriad and unexpected ways, but learning and community will always be a part of Tabor: on-campus or when forced apart.

We know that it is the people who make up our school community: they are the essence of the experience. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are trying to accomplish together. It matters who you are with. And as a Tabor community, we are so glad to have each other.

Students and faculty continue to gather as advisor groups, as classes, dorm communities, teams, and clubs. Parents and alumni meet on Zoom. We are now a very busy online community...spread world-wide!

Please enjoy just a smattering of what our Virtual Campus is up to!

Synchronous and asynchronous are the new lingo, like quarantine and social distancing. Enjoy some Zoom clips of our digital classrooms from Computer Science to Environmental Science to Spanish Class. Or check out how English is integrating tech skills with writing. Why not learn a bit about the Harlem Renaissance in U.S. History or complete the podcasting unit on the pandemic. Listen to Izzy, a senior, as she shares how supportive her teaches are, or learn from Zoe, a junior, about how her classes work and how it is going!

We are a creative community and we aren't shy! Our visual artists are creating art to make sense of these days. Our instrumental ensembles and chamber choir and madrigal singers have enjoyed performing music on Zoom, while our actors are also performing lip-syncs and monologues. Hear from Ms. Hawley about her acting assignments.

Community is everything at Tabor and we mean to stick together through thick and thin. Today, we are a busy online community...spread world-wide! While we have been apart, we have made podcastscelebrated our winter athletes, worked out online, enjoyed Chapel Talks, elected class leaders, kept classmates engaged on Insta, and even had Sammy the Seawolf and others share some silly quarantine fun during our morning greeting! Here's Lainie sharing how she keeps up with friends.

Not only are we teaching and learning, but we are also serving our community as we can. Our students participated in the National Day of Silence, and raised awareness through Yards for Yeardley during Healthy Relationships Week. Andrew volunteers at a local food pantry. Our campus faculty created our very own Town of Marion Clean Up Day in honor of Earth Day, and have been busy 3D printing face shields to help our local first responders!

We are eager to meet you!

We are eager to meet prospective families on our digital campus as well. There are places to see and people to meet and we hope you will reach out to us to schedule a time to speak with us personally. We can arrange a guided virtual tour, put you in touch with a fellow Seawolf, and share more about what our on-campus school life is like. Teachers, coaches, parents, and students are eager to assist you as you get to know Tabor Academy.

We are Tabor Academy. Ready to go further with us?
