IT and Database Specialist

Position Summary:

Tabor Academy seeks a detail-oriented, mission-driven IT and Database Specialist to manage, support, and optimize the school’s data infrastructure. This is an on-campus, part-time, nonexempt staff position (20 hours per week) that reports to the Director of Technology. This individual will serve as the primary administrator for Tabor’s Blackbaud suite (including Education Management and Raiser’s Edge), and will support data integrity, reporting, user access, and technology integration across academic, advancement, and administrative departments. The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for leveraging data to enhance institutional decision-making and student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities: 

Blackbaud Systems Administration

  • Serve as the lead administrator for Blackbaud Education Management and/or Raiser’s Edge platforms.
  • Manage user roles, security permissions, and workflows to ensure secure and efficient operations.
  • Provide training and support for faculty, staff, and departments using Blackbaud products.
  • Collaborate with Advancement and Academic teams to streamline data processes and ensure accurate reporting.

Data Integrity & Reporting

  • Maintain data integrity across systems through regular audits, clean-up efforts, and consistency protocols.
  • Design and generate customized reports, dashboards, and data exports for internal use and external compliance.
  • Support strategic data projects (e.g., enrollment trends, advancement campaigns, academic performance analysis).

Systems Integration & Technical Support

  • Integrate Blackbaud with other school systems (e.g., LMS, admissions platforms, Reach, BrightArrow).
  • Collaborate with the Director of Technology to assess and implement database enhancements and IT infrastructure needs.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for users with system access or data issues.
  • Assist with broader IT support, including systems maintenance, software updates, and device management, as needed.

Required Skills and Abilities: 

  • Associate's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience managing database systems, with a strong preference for Blackbaud expertise.
  • Proficiency with data analytics, reporting tools, and database queries.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and best practices (FERPA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users effectively

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in an independent school or nonprofit environment.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data migration, or SQL scripting.
  • Understanding of SIS/LMS systems, Microsoft Office365 Suite, and CRM platforms.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in technology practices.

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position (20 hours per week). The work schedule is flexible (will still be within the bounds of Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm) and will be determined collaboratively between the selected candidate and Tabor Academy.
