Clay is an activity that introduces basic hand building techniques, tool and material use, and ceramic procedures through fun filled projects. Slab, coil, and pinching methods of construction, as well as the use of plaster molds, are learned by students. The decoration is limited to texture, line, and simple glazing techniques. Children are given the opportunity to learn wheel-working techniques to create functional pieces and also to explore the potter’s wheel as a tool for sculptural creative work.
Your child must attend for a minimum of two weeks. It is not available to those that begin the program July 30th or August 6th due to the preparation time needed with the clay and the kiln.
