Pre-Algebra, for most students, means starting to cross the bridge between the concrete and the theoretical. If students have a solid background in arithmetic skills and concepts, the crossing may be relatively risk-free. Quite often, however, there is a need to strengthen the basic skill areas, in order to make clear where the hazards lie. Students can progress as far as time and their abilities to comprehend will allow. The topics covered are the same as those covered in the Algebra I course.
