The Tabor Community Service program is divided into three components so that every student has the opportunity to participate.
• Community Service Club
- Student run club that organizes on and off campus events such as the Southcoast Hospitals Blood Drive, peer tutoring and the Walk for Hunger
• After-school Program
- Daily trips to the Boys and Girls Club of Wareham, Citizens Schools of New Bedford, and a local soup kitchen. We also assist the Marion Council on Aging and Sippican Elementary School on a regular basis.
• School Wide Activities
Our proximity to New Bedford lends itself well to a varied program of community service available to Tabor students. Beyond their participation in the Community Service Day held each spring, we ask that each student commit to five hours of volunteering, at a Tabor organized event, per academic year. Students are encouraged to pursue their personal passion and take the initiative to organize an event for their particular cause. With the approval of the Director of Community Service, students may plan summer projects to fulfill their yearly requirement.
Present and Future Service Activities include:
Big Brother Big Sister of New Bedford
Tutoring at Sippican Elementary School in Marion
Habitat for Humanity regional projects
Boys and Girls Club of Wareham
Citizens Schools in New Bedford
