Financial aid is awarded to accepted students based on their family’s demonstrated financial need and the merit of the applicant. Because requests for financial aid far outpace available funds, awards are made to a percentage of accepted students.
Need-based financial aid is awarded through grants and/or loans to help meet the financial need of students of deserving character and demonstrated academic prowess. It should be noted that regardless of the size of the award, a recipient of financial aid is not expected to assume any duties beyond those expected of all students. Over 30% of all Tabor students receive some financial assistance. Traditionally, less than 25% of accepted students who qualify for aid receive an award. Students receiving aid must reapply annually, and families should expect to continue to pay tuition at the same level throughout their tenure at Tabor Academy.
New students applying for financial aid are expected to follow the normal admissions procedure. However, the fact that an applicant may need financial assistance is not considered in evaluating the candidate's qualifications for admission. Tabor subscribes to the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid administered by the Educational Testing Service, Princeton, NJ 08541-6657.

New aid applicants, as well as current recipients, should obtain and complete the SSS forms paying strict attention to deadlines. Since financial aid grants for new students are awarded in the March 10 admissions notification letter, SSS forms must be returned to ETS by February 1 to receive consideration. Financial information is required from both parents in the case of separation or divorce. Information about optional tuition insurance and tuition payment plans is available from the Tabor Business Office.
