Voyage 2 July 2-8 Chaperone: Dr. Karl Kistler
UPDATE 7/5: Just spoke with the schooner. Yesterday, the local Maine schooners invited the Tabor Boy to go to Vinalhaven. Tabor Boy anchored with the other schooners and saw the American Eagle . They ran into Rob Aspinwall, Tabor alum. The schooners then invited Tabor Boy to race with the 16 local schooners. Although Tabor Boy didn't win, they were going 7 1/2 knots, neck in neck with the Nathaniel Bowditch..quite exciting for the students on board!! They ended up in Castine, where they saw the fireworks. Today is a mixture of sun/fog and no wind. They are heading to Somes Sound to continue the program. (No Bar Harbor this week). All on board are doing very well!!!!!!! Leslie Geil
The Tabor Boy bus departed Marion on Sunday, July 8th at 9:25 AM. They made stops at Logan Airport, Masconomet High School in Topsfield, MA and one student met the vessel in Camden, ME. Pick-ups went very smoothly!!!All arrived safely in Camden at 3:30PM. After taking the Wayfarer Marina launch out to the Tabor Boy (anchored in the outer harbor), the students stowed their gear and were given a tour of the vessel by the student crew. Lexie Wilder, Tabor student and crew member prepared a wonderful dinner consisting of spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread and chocolate peanut butter cookies for dessert. Tomorrow (Monday) morning will be spent going over safety procedures, with departure set for approx. 11:00 AM. The schedule for the week is similar to last week with a possibility (if a mooring is available-won't know this until later on Monday) to go to Bar Harbor Tuesday for the fireworks and Mt.
