HIGH PASS: Students who earn a grade of “high pass” are those whose projects go well beyond the scope of what they intended when they applied to do their projects. These students embark on intellectual, emotional, and even spiritual journeys that surpass all expectations and standards. The projects of these students take on lives of their own, and they follow the passion their projects kindle in them.

PASS: Students who earn a grade of “pass” have done everything they set out to do. They have written all required journal entries thoughtfully and dutifully, and each is of sufficient length. They have written reflective, relatively error-free abstracts or final papers. They have responsibly seen their committee readers weekly, keeping their readers abreast of their progress, including challenges, successes, surprises, and mistakes.

LOW PASS: Students who earn a grade of “low pass” have fallen short of the standards set forth by the committee and of the goals established by the students themselves. For example, these students have not written the required number of journal entries, or their entries are too short and undeveloped. The abstracts of these students may reflect little thinking and poor editing, or they may not have met all appointments with their readers. Finally, these students may not have accomplished what they set out to do.

FAIL: Students who earn a grade of “fail” have not met the terms of their project nor have they engaged in the spirit of senior projects. These students have put forth little effort, have failed to challenge themselves, and have learned little about themselves and the project process.
