Exchange Programs between Tabor and other Schools:
Schule Schloss Salem exchange program: A student from Tabor or one from Salem School in Germany may visit the opposite campus for part or all of the spring or summer term each year for cultural and academic exchange.
English Speaking Union (ESU): Each year Tabor may host a UK graduating senior for a year of study or send a Tabor student to a boarding school in the United Kingdom.
Royal Scholars Program of Thailand: Since the 1960’s Tabor has welcomed one or two Thai Scholars each year from over fifty scholars selected annually by national competition in Thailand for secondary and university education in the United States.
Court of the Crown Prince of Bahrain Scholars: Since 2002 Tabor has welcomed each year a two-year Bahraini Scholar, one of eight chosen annually by national competition in that country for secondary and university scholarships overseas.
Study Abroad Programs for Tabor Students:
The Tabor Boy Caribbean Studies Program, every third year (2008), brings ninety students with Tabor faculty on six voyages to St. John’s US Virgin Islands. After orientation during the fall, students participating in the two-week immersion programs explore coral reef and surrounding ecology, as well as island history, economy, and culture. Students and faculty live on board ship and direct ongoing research in collaboration with the United States Department of the Interior and the National Park Service.
The Tabor Boy Summer Orientation Cruises offer all new students a one-week summer trip along the Maine coast. In groups of fifteen, students quickly make friends and experience the special opportunities that life on board offers.
The Shattuck Grant sponsors a Tabor student each year, chosen by competition, who desires to study a foreign language on location overseas in the summer time.
School Year Abroad (SYA) maintains campuses in Spain, Italy, China, and France, where each year one or two Tabor students spend the academic year immersed in a foreign language and culture.
Drama Exchange with Elsmere School, England in alternate years brings theatrical groups from Tabor and Elsmere for two weeks in the spring to perform and visit each other’s schools and locales.
Madrigals Spring Tour: Tabor's mixed select choral group has used the spring vacation to visit a variety of American and international locations over the years. The Madrigals perform in all types of venues, before both large public audiences and smaller private groups. They also take time to explore their host surroundings, most recently last spring during their trip to Ireland.
